Artist's Description
Angel Oak is located near Charleston on Johns Island. It is estimated to be 400-500 years old, although some have claimed it is closer to 1500 years. Whatever the age, it is simply awesome. On the day I went, there were a lot of people around. In this vintage sepia rendition, I have edited out people, cables (holding up the branches) and signs in order to give it an "old world" feel. If you go, make sure you visit the Angel Oak Restaurant, just down the road, for some great southern cooking! I'm still dreaming of the fried green tomatoes and fried chicken that I had there.
